HIGH SCHOOL
GUIDANCE CENTER - CAREER MONTH 2015

In this technology and digital age, various kinds of careers have been developed and created. In order to guide the students in their career exploration and decision making, the Guidance Center upholds and promotes Career Awareness and Guidance which is highlighted every January.

This year, the High School Career Month focuses on the theme, "Back to the Future". It represents the idea that our past affects our future; it urges the students to assess their skills, talents and achievements to understand what the right path is; we ask them to look back at all their past experiences to find out what direction fits them according to their personality and capabilities - look back to see the future.

The High School Career Month was launched last January 12, 2015 during the General Assembly. The 3rd year Peer Facilitators took the lead in creating the career theme and launching activity. The logo was crafted by Trish Balan of III - Venerable Josefa Segovia. The first activity was the career trivia where twelve students from different levels won. The Homeroom activities of Grades 7 to 9 students focused on career exploration while 4th year students, who are really getting ready for college, updated their Resumes. The Grade 10 and 3rd year students had their Career Talk and Workshop last January 21, 2015. Top five career preferences of the students were 1) Medicine/Science 2) Media Arts and Communication 3) Business, 4) Law and 5) Fashion, interior and Architecture. Speakers from various aforementioned professions shared their expertise and experiences. Also, speakers from other various professions and some successful alumna had generously shared their time and expertise.

This career month culminated last February 2, 2015 during the High School General Assembly with a short video clip presented by Grade 10 Peer Facilitators. This day was also tagged as Career Dress-up day for high school students. Most of the high school students participated dressing up in their dream career outfits. Another activity was the Career Commitment Board. During recess and lunch, students were encouraged to write their dream career and to identify ways of serving others through their chosen career and to capture the moment, a photo booth was provided at the Covered Walk.
